Celebrating their 4th Birthday in April and amassing an impressive back catalogue since their inception (36 releases from over 80 producers, across 14 countries) East London based imprint Soulvent Records continue to go from strength to strength.
Meticulously curating releases comprising of top-drawer forward-thinking drum and bass, their latest output sets the tone for what looks to be a successful year for the Soulvent lads. Courtesy of Japan-based producer Mountain, the A/AA release is as much a nod to drum & bass of times gone by as it is forward thinking; combining a delicate blend of old-school rave style breaks & vocals with future-esque soundscapes and catchy melodies.
‘Overheat’ kicks off this release with lush pads, rich drums and emotive soundscapes. Energetic & uplifting, this future funk style production has a definite summer vibe to it, the type of track you can imagine being dropped at ‘Hospitality In The Park’ met with thousands of arms outstretched while the sun (or rain if you’re in the UK) shines overhead; a real feel-good vibe. The AA-side delivers a more rave-esque upbeat roller with glitched out vocals, delicate guitar licks and punchy, crisp drums. The euphoric piano melody gives ‘Poseidon’ a certain anthemic quality, linking back in with the summer/festival vibe of the release. Definitely one to cop if  you’re a lover of the more upbeat, polished side of drum and bass.
Available from February 2nd on Soulvent Records, you can pre-order your copy here & check out more from Mountain here.
