Addictive Behaviour & In-Reach Presents: an all night D&B special celebrating the music of today, tomorrow and that of the past! We got all bases worth covering covered at this party but don’t just take my word for it, the full details can be found on the flyer at the bottom of the page along with the all important ticket links. Be sure to secure yours ASAP.

Right, as promised, this week we spoke with guests Horrific James (Horrific Recordings founder) and his partner in crime for the night J.Bionic. These guys have been living and breathing this whole D&B/Jungle thing since day so we felt no other duo is better placed to take on the set straight after main man Doc Scott! … Trust me – this set will be a highlight!

Easy fellas, thanks for taking the time to speak with us! As you know we’re huge fans of the Horrific label at In-Reach and currently lucky enough to be reppin’ the latest Horrific Test (006). It’s getting great feedback btw! Thinking about the label a little more generally, James – how would you describe the music you put out?
Horrific James: It’s a life long passion, from Hardcore Jungle, Drum & Bass – “Respect to the Junglist crew” it reads on Certificate 18 cat CERT1803 on the run out groove (1993) … Horrific music can be described with one word “Junglist” !!! Break beats and samples are the essence of the Horrific sound, late 80s / early 90s bleeps and bass, early 90s Bukem beats. Horrific = Hyper, it has to be hyper active, energy! go crazy and make some NOISE!!!
Check out the FULL Horrific Recordings back cat. below and remember ears to the ground for the 006 coming soon 😉

J.Bionic, how did you end up getting involved? What you been up to?
I met James years back on Rude FM. We’ve  kept in touch here and there over the years. He came to visit last May and we made a track called “Live 5” which is forthcoming on Fresh 86. Last year we started making tunes together regularly. J.Bionic & Horrific James is a duo inspired by JMJ & Richie early 90s Moving Shadow.
So I know you both have extensive record collections and of course Horrific Recordings is a vinyl only project but what’s the plan for December 4th? You’ll be coming armed with plenty of wax but will we be getting a mix of the old and the new stuff?
Horrific James: We plan to play a few of our newest steel cuts, by Leon at Music House, maximum Leon! Also plenty of  test press Vinyls from Horrific, Function, Fresh 86 all labels we have music on vinyl out now or forthcoming. A few priceless 1990s discog record breaking sales gems will be in the box too!!!

That is good to hear 🙂 … You two have spent time b2b in the past so James perhaps you could describe what it’s like mixing with J.bionic and vice versa… For someone who hasn’t seen you play before how would you describe your sets/style?

Horrific James: Its always super good vibes as we are both 90s Bukem fanatics that whole decade, its post Ya Man early 90s  Bukem approach freestyle waxing & plenty of chopping & cuts, with a contemporary twist , lively behind the decks getting hyper blasting off !!!

Nice! Ok, last couple… James – been involved in anything else recently that our readers might be interested in?
Horrific James: 2015s been my strongest year with my 1st 12″ out on Horrific 005 J.Bionic & myself Gardenia, with our collaboration on the flip with Digital ‘Hellraiser’ doing really well with DJ Storm playing it. I made a tune with Digital ‘Too Much’, which was amazing as he’s been a long time hero of mine, it got the re-load last Saturday at Launch on Black Eye’s call, really amazing to see it rockin’ Launch.’Too Much’ is on the Trident Code E.P (TC) consists of Digital, Flava and myself. The 12″ vinyl ship December 7th (2015). All tunes on there have been smashing it, “Lava” has been getting a lot of love. It’s my 1st time I’ve had music released on non-vinyl format!

Tommorow J.Bionic & myself are off to Metropolis  to attend our forthcoming 12″ on Fresh 86 , out in 2016 , its a three track 12″ and we will be playing one or two of those on 4th December, listen out for ‘Clean Up’ we will definately be spinning that on 10″ music house plate.
Wicked, look forward to hearing that one. So, J.Bionic, what kinda classics might we hear on the 4th!?
Break, definately a Break classic.
They always go down well! The event is shaping up nicely 🙂 Any final shouts or thoughts?
Hyped up and excited, looking forward to it. Massive shouts to Digital Function Records, Tom Red Eye Records/Fresh 86, In-Reach, Addictive Behaviour and all those supporting J.Bionic & Horrific James.
