Electrifying crowds in their tens of thousands from all corners of the world poured into London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park last weekend, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the iconic Arcadia.
Celebrating ten years; the award-winning Arcadia fuses ‘groundbreaking spectacle, cutting-edge technology, sculpture, engineering, architecture, adrenaline and bass into a primal unity.’ Following a strong conscious ethos, their dynamic sculptures and hypnotising arenas consist of reclaimed military machinery reworked into inspiring and captivating spaces; providing multi-sensory, immersive experiences that uplift and unite its audiences.
A 50-tonne fire-breathing spider, multi-million-volt performance from The Lords of Lightning, giant laser installations, delicious food, award-winning production, and mobile amphibious stage were just some of the highlights of the 48-hour long high octane festival.
Over 50 artists provided the soundtrack to the weekend, including household names Leftfield, Max Cooper, Sven Väth, Groove Armada, Rudimental & Noisia and more gracing the Arcadia stage alongside the spectacular Metamorphasis Show. Sunday saw The Reactor Arena host a special RAM Records takeover, with Delta Heavy, Bad Company, Calyx & Teebee, The Upbeats and more providing fast-paced cuts and good vibes. On Saturday the mobile, amphibious Bug stage housed the London Sound Academy DJs, Paul Johnson and the Subbass Academy DJs alongside Bristol’s The Blast DJs, Stanton Warriors, Trojan Soundsystem & Chimpo.
Both nights featured a groundbreaking and stunning performance from the Whadjuk Noongar tribe; accompanied by ambisonic 360 degree soundfields, mobile sculptures the size of cars, luminous alien creatures, 60 foot flames, giant laser installations and much, much more.
