Nemy – Link/ Lucid Things (Lost Recordings)

It’s hard to find an artist that works exceptionally hard in the DnB scene. Indeed, it’s hard to find an artist who’s effort has earned him a prolific meteoric rise not just within the scene, but on a host of top notch labels, such as ProgRAM, Drum Army, Skankandbass, Fokuz Recordings and Sine Audio to name a few.

The artist I allude to is of course the ever prolific Nemy. This Serbian producer has been on many radars for a while now for his crisp production and stone cold minimal swagger. His next release does not sway from the Nemy sound and certainly does not disappoint, coming courtesy of the kings of dark underground minimal: Lost Recordings.

Lucid Things

Kicking things off is Lucid Things, Nemy’s favourite track from the release. This track is unapologetically dark and blusterous in its stride. An exploration of dark synthesis, Lucid Things keeps a relentless pace from start to finish.
Opening with crunchy hats on top of bubbling FX and synths, this track soon spirals without warning into growly synths amid uplifting pads. A switch is then made, unleashing yet more mind-blowing sounds all fitting sublimely with a gorgeous warm sub.
The highlight of this track is the drums; pinned within the mix precisely, the kick is full and rounded while allowing the crispiest of rides to creep in and provide a rolling rhythm.
This track is Nemy’s favourite for a reason. One listen and you’ll know why too.

Link

While the A side of this release may be Nemy’s favourite, Link is most certainly mine.
Gloomy atmospherics and a synth drone kick start this track, interspersed with an uplifting vocal one shot hook.
This vocal soon fades into the etherial reverb before a smack-round-the-face of a drop.
Keeping true to Nemy’s style, this drop is powerful, dark and packed. A cataclysm of synths bombard this drop, all of which are underpinned with the vocal hook to provide breathtaking complexity.
Link is one of those rare tracks that meets light with dark; blissful and elevating pads meets raw, deep dark and dirty synths in a juxtaposition of moods that is pulled off with flawless elegance.
Nemy has excelled himself with this release. Definitely one to watch!
