Crystal Clear’s “Selector EP,” released on January 31, 2025, via V Recordings, marks a triumphant return for the producer, delivering a collection that both honors the roots of drum and bass and pushes its boundaries.

The EP opens with the title track, “Selector,” featuring the legendary Bryan Gee. This tune is a nod to sound system culture, blending classic reggae influences with rolling basslines and crisp percussion. Bryan Gee’s vocal contributions add authenticity, making it a track that resonates with both old-school heads and new listeners.

“Earthquake,” a collaboration with Amoss, stands out as a powerhouse on this EP. The track lives up to its name, delivering a seismic experience with its deep, rumbling bass and intricate drum patterns. The synergy between Crystal Clear and Amoss is evident, resulting in a tune that’s both heavy-hitting and meticulously crafted.

“Bones,” featuring Minor Forms, takes a darker turn, immersing listeners in a moody atmosphere with its haunting melodies and subterranean bass. The track showcases Crystal Clear’s versatility, proving his ability to navigate different moods within the drum and bass spectrum.

Closing the EP is “Slow It Down,” a collaboration with vocalist Kathryn Brenna. This track offers a more melodic approach, with Brenna’s ethereal vocals floating over lush pads and a laid-back groove. It’s a refreshing contrast to the heavier tracks, providing a soulful end to the journey.

Overall, the “Selector EP” is a testament to Crystal Clear’s evolution as an artist. Each track brings something unique to the table, making it a must-listen for drum and bass fam. Grab it here.
