Having had already great success on labels such as Soul Deep, Influenza, Test Press, Soul Bros, and more, Wyman brings his enlivening work to the sounds of Smooth N Groove with a new EP, ‘Velvet Crush’.
The EP starts off properly with the title track, ‘Velvet Crush’, bringing with it sounds that instantly have the listener captivated by the beautiful atmospherics overtop of continuous crisp drums.
Following up, the second track, ‘Carcal’, truly shows Wyman’s jazzier side of Drum and Bass. Filled with a smooth vibe and deep basslines, ‘Carcal’ goes deep bringing listeners to a jazzy drum and bass landscape.
The third track, ‘Circumpunct’, is the heaviest tune on the EP. Packed with a driving bassline, intense atmospherics, and a quicker drumline, the track delivers an energetic vibe inducing the listener deep into the atmospherics whilst keeping the groove going.
Finishing out nicely, Wyman has provided a lighter tune to end on. ‘Raygun’ is a beautiful closer to the EP, constantly building up the atmospherics and topping off the EP with angelic sounds overtop the crisp drumwork.
Wyman has crafted an EP combining liquid, jazz, intensity, and beautiful atmospherics, demonstrating to us his mastery and well-rounded production abilities. Definitely one to be picking up for the Holidays.
