The legendary Digital returns with ‘Function Records’ after a number of years out of action. The label kicks off with the ‘Respek Da Foundation EP‘ which has been doing damage for some time now. Digital has been as busy as ever in the studio as of late, teaming up with various producers including Response, Spirit, James Horrific & Flava.[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/183685057″ params=”auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&visual=true” width=”100%” height=”450″ iframe=”true” /]
“With this EP I’m paying homage to my jungle, hardcore, DnB and old skool influences.” comments Digital. The A side, “Forever” sounds like a homage to Reinforced Records back in the day and on the AA side Digital has teamed up with Mancunian recluse, Response to produce a modern drum and bass track with an old skool feel with, “Silver Lining” created from vibes way back in the day when sub bass, atmospherics and breaks were vital! For the third track on the EP it’s another Manchester talent. Dub Phizix’s remix of the classic, Deadline, re energises the original with some of Phizix’s famous crisp production.
Watch out for the new wave of releases from Digital, with a number of follow up EP’s expected on Function Records over the coming year.
