The Drum n Bass will be held in room 2 with – Marcus Intalex’s Soul:ution label returning to lavish sets from a likeminded group of drum & bass titans on the heads. The musical ear of Calibre will join the unctuous producership of dBridge, the legendarily deep crates of Fabio, Synkro and one of Soul:ution’s most respected new signings, Phil Tangent.

One of UK hip hop’s leading exports, Foreign Beggars return to the Room One stage, bringing their trademark no nonsense delivery and infectious energy with them. Wheel & Deal boss N-Type, Artwork, True Tiger, Jakes and Chimpo will all be lending a bass heavy hand in support.

Room Three houses another instalment of DJ Distance’s Chestplate label’s residency and this time they’ve invited Japanese beatsmith, Goth Trad to perform live. He joins label family Distance, Cyrus, Razor Rekta and LX:One on the bill.

The organisers of Canalival hope more than 5,000 people will bring dinghies, lilos, rubber ducks and anything else that floats for an afternoon of absolute chaos on the water.

A carnival caravan will be leading the way with floats providing entertainment from live bands, DJs, dancers and circus performers. Basically, it’s going to be a festival, but this time you’re not going to mind getting wet.

In the words of the organisers: “The idea is to get IN, ON and AROUND the canal as much as possible in a booming procession of absolute raucous nonsense.”

However, they need your help to do it. Donations are invited via Spacehive to pay for acts, floats, décor, litter pickers and lifeguards.

The carnival is not-for-profit so anything raised above the £3,000 target will be donated to the Canal & River Trust which helps maintain the waterway.

Floats include The Yacht Club by the organisers of Secret Garden Party, which will be pumping out ska, jive and jazz. The festival has also offered two free tickets to the best independent boat on the day so get thinking about how to pimp that lilo.

Assuming the fundraising target is met, Canalival starts at midday on Saturday 1 June on the canal outside Gainsborough Studios and heads east until, well, everybody decides to go home. Pledge your donation here.
