Break, Detail & Tiiu – Steam Train/ Days Go By

Off the back of a number of huge Symmetry Recordings releases comes SYMM013, with a banger by Break on the A-side and a chilled roller by Detail and Tiiu on the B-side, dropping in July this is another massive release for Break’s imprint and is a single that has something for all heads!

Symmetry has had a steady flow of hard-hitting, influential tunes that are cementing the label as a main player in terms of creativity and scene-changing sounds – there’s something Break brings to the table like no other, and A-side Steam Train certainly delivers. A heavy tune with militant drums, Steam Train differs from that dub influenced Break sound yet manages to combine a mischievous playfulness to the darkness of an unquestionably filthy tune – heavyweight beyond a doubt, the bass in this one will have ravers bouncing, a dance floor ruiner.

I’ve got to be honest, Detail is a new name on the scene and I’m ashamed to admit isn’t an artist I’ve been paying too much attention too, wrongly so. Anything getting released on the brainchild of Break is guaranteed to be a mind-blower and Detail & Tiiu – Days Go By enormously outdoes expectations. An intricately constructed, emotion-fuelled tune, this one combines mournful, minimal build-ups with graceful but tough breaks, the result – deep, rolling drops that coalesced with a silky smooth bassline and those haunting vocals really makes for a tune of non-stop vibes. Tip-top production throughout, both A and B-side are staples for any drum and bass listeners’ collection.
